Vegetarian Baked Beans

in Recipes, Side Dishes

This recipe is also from my son’s birthday party – I think I ended up going the southern cooking route with pulled pork, baked beans, mac n cheese, coleslaw….gotta love me some southern cooking – shout out to my sista’s Emily & Tara in MS.

These beans were a hit but warning they take a long time to make – lots of prep time! But I share this recipe since it is so worth it. I love making meals from scratch….homemade YUM.

Notes about these beans I thought they were a bit too smokey and I would cut down on the molasses….but again I still really liked. But my Grandma and husband thought they were perfect and wouldn’t change a thing. Either way these baked beans will please.

Vegetarian Baked Beans

  • 1 bag Dry Northern White Beans
  • 1 Small Onion (Diced)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • 1/2 cup Molases
  • 1/3 cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Maply Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dry Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 2 teaspoons Liquid Smoke
  • 1/8 teaspoon Ground Red Pepper

Soak Beans Overnight
In the morning drain beans and puut beans in crockpot
Add all the ingredients - right on top. Stir Well.
I put on high and cooked all day. Served at 5:00. You want the beans to come to a boil so they get soft enough.
