Miso Green Beans

 I am so excited to post this recipe. I can not tell you how good these green beans were. I served them with dinner last night and only 4 beans were left from the 1 whole pound I made. My lil’ boys chewed ’em right down :-)

I am also super excited to share this since our local farmers market is tomorrow – Wednesday- (also Saturday if you don’t make it)  so I want all my friends to get their green beans so you can make this.

In my photo some of the beans look dark – no they are not burnt. I bought them from the farmers market and I already forgot what she called them. There was just a handful of these beautiful dark purple green beans.

I got a whole pound for only $2.00. These big long beautiful green (purple) beans.

Now the only tricky part is I am not sure if our local grocery carries Miso. It would be in the asian section. I bought mine from Willy Street Co-op..it was in a bag on the shelf. I really hope you can find it…maybe the local Grainery store or Whole Foods?

Miso Green Beans


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • 1lb green beans
  • 1 tablespoon miso
  • 1/2 - 1 tablespoon Tamari (or soy sauce)


Heat olive oil in skillet.

Add garlic and pine nuts.

Squeeze lemon over the pan.

Add green beans and stir in miso and tamari. Don't overcook - best with a lil' crunch.

Ooh, I bet these are wonderful! I could probably polish off the whole pound myself – i’m a huge veggie lover. =) Will have to try ’em!

I like mine with pannier and butter :) but you version sounds delicious as well.

Now what is pannier?? I haven’t heard of it and like trying new things :-)
