in Recipes, Side Dishes

so I totally needed a fresh healthy recipe from the post yesterday – lol – velveeta.

So what is not healthier than brussels sprouts?!? they scream healthy.

and we love brussels sprouts in our family.

and so sad for this wonderful vegetable…they totally have such a bad rap.

I highly recommend buying from your local farmers market. the sprouts grow on stalks and it is such a fun vegetable to look at.

in our college days hubby would lather this green vegetable with what else but cheese. I need to cut down on some of my cheese – lol – mac & cheese post before.

I subscribe to this blog Add a Pinch and couldn’t wait to try her version. If you are hesitant to try brussels sprouts give this recipe a try. They are really really really good! Robyn from Add a Pinch states adding a pinch of brown sugar helps cut out the bitterness from the brussels sprouts. genius I tell you genius. I am so thankful for the wonderful food bloggers out there!

And it is only a pinch of brown sugar. so nothing to fret about. these babies are just plain healthy and oh so good. so please please try and report back on what’ cha thought 😉

brussels sprouts

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup brussels sprouts (I used 1 stalk, cut off, clean and I quartered mine)
  • pinch brown sugar
  • pinch salt

In saute pan heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute 1-2 minutes. Add the Brussels sprouts and cook about 3 to 5 minutes, until slightly browned. Then add pinch of brown sugar and salt. Cook for another 1-2 minutes. Do not overcook you don't want soft mushy sprouts. ENJOY.

Hi Angela! I secretly LOVE LOVE LOVE brussels sprouts. I hated them when i was little and now I eat them all the time. I roast mine in the oven with olive oil salt, and pepper, perfection!
